Lecture 10

So this week's lecture was quite interesting. Its was all about Gaming basically. =P
Well, I'm not a gamer but my little brother is, it's quite annoying actually when all he wants for his birthday is the latest game..

I'm thinking he doesn't learn anything in games and that he should get a life! Lol..but i have been corrected today. It seems games aren't all that bad, there are bad side effects but concerning the demograhphic of my generation, 18-25 years & over. Games. There's more to them than what it seems.

So today.. we're 'Studying the Video Game'

That includes; [PC GAME, CONSOLE GAME, ONLINE GAME, ARCADE GAME, & MOBILE GAMING] <--- Computing Based Games

Mostly gamers are dominated by males, and a small percentage of female gamers is starting to rise. There are various genres of games, these include; FPS (First player shooting games), Violence and Narrative games. Also adding to the mix lately, Puzzle and Fitness games. <--- these games are mostly popular with females. These can be considered objectives of everyday life, how you have to work, learn and earn a living. These are basically society needs and expectations of an individual, yet gamers are capable of doing these things in their games but not in real life? How did we get to this point? This is what Jason called the 'Social Science Approach', the effects of games on people. The media has effective every generation, using violence, also known as Humanities Approach, meaning and context of game which mostly narrative based games. Such examples include Artifacts and Medium of art are features embedded. Another approach is known as the Industry and Engineering, how its development of games and the 'Now' technologies.

How did we get this far you ask?
Back then, kids went out and play, sports and whatnot, but now the world became a dangerous place. Now parents are more overprotected about where kids go to and up to, thus the invention of home entertainment and kids love to be involve in these kinds of things, a sense of adventure. Society sure has come a long way from playing sports and playing in the park with friends. Now my siblings have more friends than me online.. haha xD

Anywho, show of hands? (an example made by Jason) John or Andrew? Lol. Jason made a suggestion of these two guys, saying that John spends all his time playing games and Andrew spends all his time playing sport, AFL. Jason asked all the girls in the lecture, who would you date? Majority of the girls went for the AFL guy..Lol but yeah..i if you ask me, the girls should've gone for the gamer, being a gamer, your quick at making decisions, confidence, able to overcome difficult situations and they're always up for a challenge. I've dated a nerd. its actually not so bad, but you have to put the line with their game and you. Lol xD

A social experiment was brought up by Jason, needed two volunteers, one girl and one boy, although I nudge my friend to go for it.. lol. Jason needed the volunteers who are gamers, which of course my friend is a gamer. lol.. it didn't happen. =P it took a while but achieved. He asked what kind of games they played? The guy said he's into PC and FPS games. The girl was into Console; Guitar Hero and playing Pokemon. Games sure do have a effect of people.. xDNowadays, people in this day and age are more into finishing and accomplishing a game, rather then enjoy the fun of it, well that also can eb considered but mostly the finishing part. Back when we were little kids, we enjoyed the fun parts about games and didn't really care where it ended.. ^^ I think one of the things games are so self-assuring to an individual, because every time you lose a battle or die in the game, you can always start again. =P

Thus, the ending of this of my blog. This has been a fascinating lecture, I quite enjoyed it. >_<

Cheers! xx

Lecture 9

Hi there, this will be my last blog for this week, and next week is the Holidays..eh one week, need sleep. ^^

So this week's lecture, we once again had the lecturer Jason something. He is weird, but funny, and this week he's teaching about software and how to know what your doing.
He listed a few steps of identify and providing assistance about software. For example he used Adobe Flash, which seems pretty basic, who seriously doesn't how to use it?? Lol..You go through university learning different things, of course your gonna come across stuff you've learned, except from high school, I seriously can't remember doing maths. But yeah, Oh and if u get employed by someone that has no knowledge of it, it could work to your advantage because you know what to do. ^^

He goes on and on about software stuff, blah blah.. I really have no intention of actually listening. Interesting enough though, unfortunately this will be his last lecture, man he IS funny and I've quite enjoyed his lectures. With he being a know-it- all and what not.. haha

All i seem to remember is "its all about CONTENT dammit". =__="

So, basically this whole lecture was mainly looking onto the little things, thus leading to important factors of the software.. Lets say its a learning process thus, people have adapted to such matter.. good luck. ^^

This picture I took in Philippines when I was on holiday!! =P Just taking a picture of the view, and yeah, I downloaded one a 'PhotoStudio' software..interesting enough changing the colours and settings.. but yeah. Its simple, just need the right stuff. ^^' Nice view..

Week 8 Activity/Lecture

We had the same guest lecturer again.. Steven Stockwell, which I've had in like in every lecture in another course as a guest lecturer of course, except for screen history.

So yeah, at first I could really hear his lecture because some people were talking really loud behind me and my friends..'Rude!' much. but yeah.. Steven pretty much shhhhh them up. Lol xD

And then, someone's phone went off, and the dude picked it up and like said "hi" out loud and the room became silent, weirdest thing to have ever happen. LOL. but yeah.. Josh our lecturer was like sitting right in front of him and told him off, made him leave the lecture. Josh was like "How rude! This happens all the time!".. something like that... but yeah, Steven lecture was about CyberPolitics and various types of contents involved with it.

So this week's activity, i thought it'd be like another scavenger hunt or something but no..much worst. *just kidding*

So yeah, for this week;

What opportunities can you find for political participation via the internet. How many of the following can you achieve while sticking to your political beliefs?

* Sign an e-petition.

I sign a petition about, Whales Revenge, campaigned to gather 1 million signatures for a petition to stop whaling. More names will continue to be added. Every year thousands of precious mammals are slaughtered for so-called 'scientific research'. Add your voice; sign the petition and spread the word to everyone you know. The campaign ends when the killing of whales stops.Target: International Whaling Commission
Current Signatures: 1104302
Signature Goal: 1,000,000+

And then, the site like has a game where there's like an animation of a whale swimming in the ocean, and ships are like about it, shooting harpoons at it, you have to play the whale and have to avoid the harpoons [which is so hard by the way] poor whales =( bad harpoons! bad people!

Someday the Whales will get us!! Attack of the Whales!! Buahahahahahahaha xD no joke.

SO yeah, check it and sign e- petition. ^^

* Respond to a professional blogger at a major news site.
I can't really understand what this has to do with anything, but yeah.. i just typed it in google and yeah, I responded to Benjamin Carlson article known as "The Rise of the Professional Blogger", it was found in the 'Alantic' which is a major news site.

* What is Barak Obama up to today?
I'm thinking he's on twitter or something, its what most celebs do nowadays, so yeah I typed it in google of what Obama is up to today? there's like a whole site, basically seems like blogs to me, saying stuff about Obama and his decision making, blah blah, bitching about him basically like what people usually do to their politicians, We do it of course. One thing I know Barak Obama is up to today? Barak Obama Is now the president of United States of America.. =P* Find out who your local, state and federal representatives are.

Well, we have our Federal representatives, Kevin Rudd, there's Anna Bligh our State representative and our Local representative Ron Clarke. What they have in common, 'Not very attractive'.. jks. ^^"
* Look up the Queensland or Australian hansard to find the last time your local member spoke in parliament.
I really have no clue, but I have been to the Paraliament house! xD it's BIG and WHITE.. and grass all around. Lol xD * Let your local member know what you think about their last speech.
Me don't know how to speak english! its unpossible to inderstand their speech, I barely pay attention to my parents let alone politicians. xD

* Read the lecture and the readings, pursue a couple of the topics that you find most interesting and then post your blog with your well-considered thoughts about the theory and practice of politics.

Firstly, I had no knowledge of the topic in the lecture known as CyberPolitics. It means the politics of the internet that exists predominantly on the internet. Cyberpolitics stretches from the powerplays around the actual structure and functions of the internet that are decided by the Internet Society and ICANN through to the political activities that occur on forums, between bloggers and even in games.

Sounds a bit complex to me as in involving many aspects and subjects to the matter. eDemocray? yeah I'm still not following.

So anyways, the tutor also adds:

What do you think of the Australian Government's plans to censor the internet (the so-called "Clean Feed")???

Clean Feed basically means "The Australian Federal Government is pushing forward with a plan to force Internet Service Providers [ISPs] to censor the Internet for all Australians. This plan will waste tens of millions of taxpayer dollars and slow down Internet access."

[Basically means, protect society from various negative aspects about he internet but I rather not have the government control everything on the internet, If the internet is used as a political tool like the media, there is no hope for my generation always bombarded by the media. Internet this, internet that!.. I mean, yeah illegal activity on the internet would change to some degree, but there would be no balance for those who rely on the internet, as it is a source of information to the common person. To be given controlled information, that also would be consider bias if the government would have its way, such as me, voicing my opinions and disagreements would be considered useless, come on people! Do we really want to give in 'the freedom we have on the internet', censorship would just be like putting *beep* *beep* every source of information that the government does not want the public to know, that would make us robots, no opinions about anything. =S]

Also, they talk about taking action and what you can do and what not..also by letting policymakers know just what we think of the "clean feed" Internet filter, we can bring about a policy change.

"You can help by contacting your representatives and spreading the word about this campaign".. [Its lame if you ask me..=P]

What place does censorship have in a democracy?
Man, if it was that bad, of course someone would look through it. Who would thought it'd be in politics. Implementing these policies, it's kinda scary but yeah, who knows what to do in this case.. I just don't agree with control or following the rules, then again, anarchy is bad!! =P. BAD ANARCHY BAD!! So yeah..my point is DISRUPT THE SOCIAL NORMS PEOPLE!! xD

Short Films!! YEw!

I chose these three films because they were so random and quite unusual. =P The first short film is kinda unusaual, which at the introduction had some sort of God quote, I'm quite religious so yeah, it interested me. I go to a Christian church twice a week. =P The second short film, well, I like horror films..its weird and freaky, I don't see why this couldn't be a longer film. "Don't bite off something you can't chew!" The third short film, well no guess there, I like romantic comedies, even if it's a short film, it makes you also smile for like one moment throughout your day.. ^-^ Lol. I hear Jason is not really a fan of romantic comdies.. haha. xD oh well ^^..

Well, "that's all folks", this was an interesting activity. =P

Lecture 6

So this week's lecture was about consumption and production. We're consumers of media, such as the big screen mediums of cinema, television and PC's and the small screen mediums of mobile phones/smartphones and personal media players eg. mp3s and ipods. As for production, there's heaps stuff like The Trailer Mash [is a website totally devoted to collecting recut trailers and trailer mash-ups] and FanFilms [is a website devoted to fan-made films of their favourite movies/tv shows] which just helps the cycle of consuming and producing along which gets the amateur filmmaker more exposure and even though it doesn't make you any cash, it might get you some recognition and some money later..=P

Mobile phone production is good when you use it for filming random stuff that happens that you aren't all that prepared for, thus catching embarrassing memorable moments. If you capture something really good though, you can upload it to iReport or Youtube it or whatnot.

So yeah..check it out! ^^

Week 7 Activity

So this week we have to create a 'fake' news report with video and upload to IReport.

Anywho.. my group chose to do a video on..

ATTACK OF THE PHONES!!

First Shot: Reports of machines "fighting back".[People have been killed and hospitalised]
Second Shot: phone attacks reporter, cuts out.
Third Shot: Back to the studio..reporter gets dragged under the desk.
Fourth Shot: Phone pops up, looks around, walks away.
End of video..

IT IS SO FUNNY! I looked so bugged eyed!.. LOL

Week 5/6 Activity

So this week we have to review five websites from our new com tech blog.
I chose the following websites:

Polyvore: 'when the commercial becomes creative'
http://www.polyvore.com/
This is so cool.. creating your fashion style. ^^" i would so buy this.. Lol i read a quote somewhere that “Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.” - Oscar Wilde =P
Whoo! I can't draw! http://www.sketchcast.com/<-- this site is weird but pretty cool, I didn't know what to draw so yeah..eh..I made an effort!! xDAnother site: http://www.speedtest.net/index.php?nojs=1In this site you can see how slow people around the world of how slow their internet is.. so lame.. =__="

http://generatorblog.blogspot.com/ <--- and this site is a bit random.. I'm like reading random blogs somewhat..i have no idea what i am exactly suppose to do..keep reading i guess..pretty funny though xD

http://www.vampirerave.com/levels2.php <--- This site is totally random, 'Vampire Rave'. I mean, come on, a game about vampires. I was reading it, i wasn't planning on palying either. But yeah, levels and what not, i don't really like internet games, gt over it in primary school but my siblings are obsessed =__=".. so yeah. I'd die before playing such a lame internet game. =P

http://www.lifehacker.com.au/design/ <--- For useful things on the net, this site had a bunch of randoms things, basically advice on how to and what to...on random stuff. Pretty useful information they provide like, 'Top 10 Ways To Get More From A Cameraphone' which I'm pretty sure I can figure out..hmmmm maybe ill look into it.^^

So yeah, this experience has been somewhat fun.. ^^..
